Is the molding powder safe?
This natural based molding powder is non-toxic, non-allergenic and 100% biodegradable. Once powder is mixed with water it starts to set in approx 60 seconds and becomes a soft flexible mould after inserting your baby's hand or foot. The amazing result is that every little detail of the skin, wrinkles, finger & toe nails are captured!
How do I ensure we could get a good cast?
It is advisable to do the casting when the baby is sleeping or during nursing. This is to prevent excessive movement by the baby. However, it does not matter if your baby wriggles his or her foot about as the molding material will capture the details of the foot/hand position at the moment when the mold sets.
How long does it take?
The whole process from mixing the molding powder with water, to having a detailed mold ready for casting with the plaster only takes less than 5 minutes on each cast. Your baby's foot or hand is only in the mixture for less than 2 minutes.
Why does the mold set so fast?
Do not use warm water. Always use cold tap water. The overall setting time for the mold is approximately 1-2 minutes, the colder the water the longer the setting stage but be careful not to startle the baby. It is advisable to immerse baby's foot or hand on a bowl of tap water before immersing it in the molding powder mixture. Using warm water will cause the mold to set too quickly which will limit your time and therefore ruin your mould.
Once the mold has set, how do we remove the hands or foot from the mould?
You get a very soft firm mould, but it is also very flexible and slippery inside. Simply wriggle baby's hand or foot to release the suction of the mould then slide hand or foot out easily.
What is the difference between Baby Casting Kit & Tiny Tots?
Tiny Tots is for bigger babies and it is 2D. However, the same material is used for both products. Therefore Tiny tots also capture the details of the foot/hand position at the moment when the mold sets.
How long could I use the Baby's touch Ink Pad?
I have been using only one ink pad for the past one year. I do a print on both baby Ethan's hands and feet every month and the latest prints was just as clear as the first i.e. the ink is still running high!
How safe is the Baby's Touch Ink Pad?
Baby's Touch Ink Pad conforms to ASTM-D4236. This is the standard of safety for craft material set by ASTM International, originally known as the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). This means it is non-toxic.
How do I get rid of the ink on my baby's hand and foot?
You just need to wipe the ink off using baby wipes. No washing is required.
Will the color run for the Ookie® and Kammi doll?
No the color will not run and you could wash them in a washing machine. Just remember to put them in a laundry bag.
