Sheltered Workshop

The Enabling Guide describes Sheltered Workshops as offering employment and/or vocational training to adults with disabilities who do not possess the competencies or skills for open employment. They sit between a Day Activity Centre and the open job market: real work and training, in a supported setting, with the aim of improving prospects for open employment.

The practical layer

• Eligibility: 18 and above, Singapore Citizen or PR, with a verified permanent disability — autism is named.
• A planning hook: enrolment at an MSF-funded Sheltered Workshop is one of the gateways into ADAP, the S$40 deputyship route for 18-to-21-year-olds.
