SPED school application

The application is parent-led: no one applies on your behalf. You gather the documents, submit MOE’s online form before your first-choice school’s deadline, and that school takes it from there. It applies to Singapore Citizen and PR children entering Primary 1 or Junior 1 (returning Singaporeans can apply at any level).

What you need before you apply

Three documents: a professional assessment report (MOE advises starting assessment appointments about 6 months before the application deadline), a medical report from a professional who knows your child’s history, and a teacher report from your child’s preschool or EIPIC centre. The form cannot be saved as a draft, so have digital copies ready before you start.

What happens after you submit

Your first-choice school processes the application once the documents are complete, and may arrange to meet you and your child. Expect an offer letter by post or email within 3 to 6 months — and once it arrives, you must register your child at the school within 2 weeks. If the application is unsuccessful, the school recommends an alternative based on your child’s needs.
